damn, linuxiso.org is down....
but I found another REALLY sweet link to Linux distros:
http://iso.linuxquestions.org/search.ph ... istro_name
simply close your eyes and randomly pick one by pointing to it with with the finger if you can't decide...
the distros can be downloaded directly from the site, but in order to get the newest release it's the best to follow the links to the distributor sites...

Red Hat? if it's not RHEL (enterprise version of Red Hat) I don't recommend it because it's outdated and not maintained any more. the successor of Red Hat is Fedora: http://fedoraproject.org/wiki/
the main CDs contain the compiled packages so you can install them through the usual OS setup procedure. the source CDs include the sources of the packages, so you can edit them manually and/or compile them with special parameters if needed....something for advanced users and/or developers..

no, you shouldn't use it, it's Red Hat 9....not maintained any more and outdated. get Fedora if you want a Red Hat based distro or get Debian (which is my personal favorite).
but well, you can still use Red Hat 9 if you want to, I used it too for a pretty long time...but you really should use it only for local issues and not for internet ones....too many security holes and the applications are really outdated (MySQL is version 3.23 for example and updating is a pain in the ass).
