you can't, simply avoid them.... 
if you're at the mill where the artefact is behind the anomaly: forget it, you'll find enough later, and most artefacts suck anyway because they have "+5 radiation"...if you attach one of them on your belt you have to drink vodka all the time because you are steadily contaminated. the only good artefacts are the +200% health ones (there are even some +400% ones later).
I doubt you are that far already, but when you get the job to "talk to the doctor" get the decoder from the hotel (I think it's in room 28)...and DON'T sell it! you'll need it at the end....
