As Far As I Know Yes It Is Because You're Selling Something That Doesn't Belong To You. Therefore It's Just Like Selling Stolen Property.

Last time I signed up emails were free. So who the hell wants to purchase an email? Unless 2 things are requested - -

1) It is a email that has a specifically high desired name and you own it
2) It is an email that you acquired in a non main stream manor i.e. stolen

main:

If number 1 = true then Hell yeah sell away
If number 2 = true then Go to jail do not pass go do not collect 200 dollars

well, selling private data is in fact a big business...there are many corporations that gather private data and sell it to other companies that set their own gathered data in relation to it to create profiles. this is the main reaon for these "customer cards" where you get those stupid payback-points for example...all about creating customer profiles and selling the data.

it is not illegal, sadly....

People sell domain names, and it's legal.

If you own the name(for instance, I own www.hack-wolf.net)...
I think it would be legal to sell emails with the hack-wolf.net name( blank@hack-wolf.net)

Though..I dunno...selling an email service and/or server space probably wouldn't really be legal since I don't own the server space.

You're talking about selling lists of emails..
Well, how do you think telemarketers work with phonenumbers?
Yeah..I don't think it's really illegal. If you're actually worried or something, then do some research.

well guys,some misunderstood my question.Recently i read a news about a person somewhere in US,who got severly jailed for selling email ids to others.Dats y just confirming whether its legal or illegal.....!!!

i think he means selling other peoples account names, like if someone signed up to a forum and then selling the information and such to another company or undisclosed person?

I think he means like selling email accounts that don't belong to him. Like a long list of emails sold to a spammer or something.

I doubt it's legal but big corporations have ways around it I bet.

Yes I agree. Although selling emails sounds like easy money I would never support a spammer.
Why?
1: I fucking HATE SPAM!!
2: They keep themselves hidden by comprimising other peoples machines which at first get's them into trouble sometimes.
3: I can't belive anyone has so little a life.
