WEP Key Cracking *Again*

Once again I am stuck. Here is some information on my PC:
OS: Windows Vista Home Premium
Model: Toshiba Equium A100
System Type: 32 Bit
Wireless Adaptor: Atheros AR5006EG

What I want is a way to grab packets that would allow me to crack a WEP key. I tried using countless programs and distro's of Linux but none have worked!

If you can send me links to programs, a tutorial on a step-by-step on how to do it or even any information which I may find useful for this I would be eternally greatful.

Also does anyone know if WPA cracking is actually possible yet?

good tool, good examples.

I am trying this stuff too, its not that easy if you are not good with linux. Some of the stuff works with windows too but linux is advisable.

Ok I downloaded and tired both, sadly no luck.

I don't suppose anyone has a step by step I can follow?

I don't really want to have to reboot my router because it goes into some stupid mode where it tries different speed for a fortnight

Also if you have a program that is straight forward install and go please say.

no wep cracking program is straight forward

first ov all you have to put your wireless card into capture mode
have you done that ??

check these sites out

and these programs you dont just click a button then the wep is cracked its not that easy

first you have to capture enough packets hence puting your wireless card into capture mode

then you crack the wep key

both ov them programs work good luck

Ok any idea how I set my card to capture, because so far all proga have told me my card is not compatible, I tryed the wildpackets driver but it doesn't work

Does anyone know which one I can use?

vista is just a pain in the ass and also i dont know if you can run aircrack and airsnort

Awww I used the peek files (thanks) and then ran every section of aircrack as administrator seems to be working just going to install wildpackets driver. So overall test comes soon!

I installed the WildPackets 4.2.2.8 driver over my Atheros Driver and it wouldn't even boot my card

So I need to know if anyone has a way (other than rolling back to XP) to get it to work with Vista?

This is becoming a very good learning curve
