as some of you know i had a few problems this week bulding a new pc for myself with the hd not loading as master, well il cut a long story short
i have a p4m800pro-m2 rev 2.0
2 x 1 1024 ddr2
and really thats all that matters to this post so heres the problem.
i have monitored temperatures, bios setting are disabled for switch off etc but i can leave the pc running no problem for over a day if its only using 1 program a day now as soon as i run more than 2 programs my system auto shuts down.
i have removed memory swapped bays and run single memory to check them but always the same. its fine till i run more than 1 program
im busy enough and this has put me back a week now so any help would be appreciated.
what should have been half a day to have set up and running has now turned to a nightmare and if it had been for someone else im damn sure i would have bought another board 10 mins after finding the problem which if i cant fix by monday it looks like i will be doing.

Question’s some dumb but hey...
Did you use heat sink compound or did it come pre-installed?
Is the CPU fan on auto run in BIOS, does the Fan shut off ever?
Do you have a Case fan?
Are the CPU and system fans connected into the correct fan slots?
I can only think that the temperature is getting to high and the mother board shuts off automatically. Are you over clocking or tweaking with FSB speeds? It has to be temperature related.
Give me more information if you can.

i always use heat compound but as it was a new cpu as well there is compund already on the heat sink fan. The cpu fan is in the correct place and the system fan is powered by a connector off the power supply and is based at the front of the tower.
the cpu is running at between 60 - 68 C /145 -155 F
and the system temperature is 37 C /98 F
cpu fan speed 2636 RPM
shutdown temp disabled
smart fan control disabled/enabled (both options tested)
have not tried to overclock or tweak any settings, all jumpers are correct
its a 500w atx power supply
i have tested the ram and both are working fine.
thanks for the replys

Did you use an anti static wrist ban with power supply plugged into a wall outlet?
Static is some what rare but it happens to me almost every 2 months cause I did not discharge properly. Also touching the computer case with it plugged into a wall outlet will work, as long as you touch it often.
You sound like you know what you are doing good luck.

I used to get a few problems with static so i changed my workspace and surroundings. I now have all wooden and glass work surfaces and have changed the carpet to a wooden floor. I have also earthed my glass work surface (as this has a metal frame) to the radiator so i really havent had a problem with static since so i dont think its down to that.
thanks anyway guys
*edit* ok guys after some research into these mobo's, i've realized ive been robbed. Seems im not the only one with this problem and it seems its down to the mobo being *crap*
thanks anyway once again
