Why post this in the general section. I would post it in the windows area since you are using windows or the hardware area since you are setting up a router.

Any way I think that it would help if you told us what model you are using. I checked there website and they have hundreds of these.
We will either find a way, or make one.

Oh, a DIR-300! For future reference try to give us much information as possible so that we know what you are talking about.

That is nifty looking device you have got. May I ask what made you chose that particular product?!

Did you check if you got it wired correctly?! Just check that every thing is pluged in correctly.
We will either find a way, or make one.

did you set up the IP manually or made it so it get the IP automatically
that could make a difference if you have a dynamic IP

Set the gateway address to 192.168.1.1, and manually configure your ip adds, to say in the range 192.168.1.2-10 as I am sure you won't have 9 nodes on you're network eh?

hm, afaik D-Link routers have 192.168.0.1 as default address... :-k

best ping both and let us know if you got an reply from one of them:

Code: Select all

//the one you have set now
ping 192.168.254.254

//and the d-link default one
ping 192.168.0.1
:wink:

p.s. best keep a network cable ready, you will need it if you will have to access the router configuration interface (which is most likely). when connected best restart both (router and system) and try to connect to http://192.168.0.1
