Im a total noob when it comes to Linux. Does anyone know a cool site, or place i can find a good list of commands for the Linux terminals? And maybe a few tutorials or such to learn my way around. :) Thanks in advance!

thanks for that link.... i really2 need it too. im just preparing my self... anyway what linux can you suggest for me guys? for you whats the best linux i can geton the net? what file system are linux standards and how do i get it? im not just a newbie to linux, i want to try it..... im just interersted in linux and i dont know what's the first step im going to take... :oops:

well, if youre a noob ;) i would sugest Knoppix or Red Hat, Ubuntu or Kubuntu are awesometasticness, but a little harder, and if youre into that kinda thing Debians for you. then theres all the lovely enlightened what-ever-you-want-to-call-it but thats for way into it peeps

batuzai, a live distro is good for taking a first look, if you want to install it on your system I would recommend RedHat 9 or Fedora (depends a little on your hardware, if your system is already a little older better get RedHat, I had a lot of trouble with Fedora Core 4 on my old P2 system).

only if you are a calm and REALLY relaxed person you can try Debian or FreeBSD, but installing can be a pain in the ass (at least FreeBSD, I have no real experience with Debian).

there is no "best" distro imo, it´s a matter of personal taste... :wink:

thanks a lot guys. by the way i have vmware workstation.. maybe ill practice installing linux in a virtual machine first before i would finaly install it on my system.... I'm using windows right now... well, ive just got my pc last february. i have 256mb of memory,2.67GHz processor intel 4. and 80gigs hardisk.. thanks good-brain.. :wink:
