solaris 2 guis?

Post by draugr »

hejs

recently i wanted to check out solaris just for fun
now i am working with the java desktop
but until now, i don't get along with it very well, so i wanted to know if it would be possible to also install kde for example because i already worked with it

so that i could switch between java and kde while im working with solaris

i thought it's maybe possible because they're both unix-based

and yes, i am a noob!

We will either find a way, or make one.

No, you're not a newb, it was a legitimate question - there is always a learning curve when learning a new skill. The only way to learn is to try, and ask questions when stuck. I always suggest using google first though, and simple search with Solaris + kde would have turn up some pages to go through.

nice to see you're interested in Solaris btw...I had a lot of fun installing and testing it. I am pretty experienced in *nix systems, but Solaris was still challenging with lots of "um, what?"-moments...
I wouldn't spend too much time with GUIs btw, Solaris is a "server OS" and so the shell is the place to go...at least imo.
have fun! :)

i am from austria

i think you asked because of this sentence: just going to try ;) - i guess it's terribly wrong, i've meant: I'll begin right now trying this (maybe that was also wrong, sry   )

No, don't worry about it. I would like to see me attempt another language, alas, I do not - other than english, java, php, sql..etc. I suppose I should say dialect, as opposed to language.
