one of those all in one card readers which has like 9 slots for odd hardware to plug into
320GB western digital My book firewire'd USB
19" LCD flat screen
ubuntu and windows mix for OS
surround sound system

second system, which im working on (if its not dead)

nothing special, just a box to practice with and open unsafe files in

3rd system (need a power cable first though)
emachines laptop
1.6 mhz cpu
60 gb drive

its nice as hell. runs fast, it has an unlocked multiplier, and its stable.

dont read about how they are blue screen causers (they only get errors if u OC them past 0.5ghz than their supposed to go and your not able to keep it cool enough). a bunch of those stupid intel fan boys OC them to like 3.2 just because they have the unlocked multiplier (which lets them OC as high as they want), which causes blue screens.

they go blazing fast on 64bit, (like my system actually boots in like 15 seconds).

THEIR THE ONLY TRUE QUAD CORES because they have 4 transport lines instead of the 2 that intel cpus have. they stay cool on the stock fan so u dont have to worry about heating issues.

they work in the regular am2 socket as well as the am2+ socket. the only difference is that the FSB drops to 1800 in an AM2 instead of the regular 3600. (just dont forget to update the bios before you use it in an am2 board)

in other words, their perfect. im happy with mine, it hasnt given me any problems on windows xp 32bit or on linux mint 64bit. (Fedora 9 64bit seems to run fine from the live CD)

if u have any questions about them, just ask me, ill gladly answer any questions.

P.S. this thing runs john the ripper like a dream, i cracked a 17 letter pass of just random numbers and letters in about 7 minutes. the pass i used was 9u|Qtz@p7xMym5v@J

alright, thanks! I'll not overclock it anyway, I need a really silent system because I work on it the whole day. my actual system is a XP2500+ one, and it works fine since years, so I'll definitely stick to AMD. a buddy is using a Core 2 9600 system, and this thing produces that much heat that even the highend 12cm CPU fan has to turn really fast, which makes the system very loud.
so an Intel one was never an option for me, they are also too expensive.

well this one runs quiet. especially since amd's cool n quiet processor management. it actually turns off the cores you arent using until you need them. and dont worry about an aftermarket cooler, cause the stock fan keeps it cool.

oh, nice.... :) how long does it run on battery? most of the gaming laptops (like the Alienware ones) have a very short battery runtime, so they are not really good for portable use... :-k

Ok,

Just built a bitchen computer for work.

Code: Select all

- AMD Phenom 9600 Agena 2.3GHz Quad core

- ASUS EN9600GT GeForce 9600 GT 512MB GDDR3 PCI Express 2.0

- SAMSUNG 320GB 7200 RPM SATA 3.0Gb/s Hard Drive

- Dual Acer 20" 5ms Wide screen LCD's

- GIGABYTE GA-MA770-DS3 AM2+/AM2 AMD 770 ATX

- LITE-ON 20X DVD±R DVD Burner Black SATA

- Kingston 8GB (4 x 2GB) DDR2 1066 (PC2 8500)

- Vista Ultimate SP1 64-bit DVD for System Builders - OEM

- Simple black / silver case.
All this for under $1200 at http://www.newegg.com. It works great so far with only a few crashes running adobe reader for some reason. Ill figure it out soon, but Vista is what it is. I lvoe the dual wide screens. I program in one screen and look up data in the other one. Also I do enjoy the Vista scrolling window thing, and the movie wallpaper.

Pictures? I got some if you want to see em.
