The Rate my system thread.

Post by Gogeta70 »

That's right folks, this thread is dedicated to "hot or not" computers. Post your specs, and prepare for the best or worse, and feel free to rate other computers.

When rating a computer, please click on the quote image of the post you want to rate, so that people know what you're talking about ;)

My specs:

Although it's an old dell, i've upgraded it:

Code: Select all

1.5 gigs ram
250 gigs hd space w/Wind0ws
Nvidia GeForce FX 5500 256 MB DDR ram VGA & S-Video outputs PCI
Dolby Digital 5.1 Surround sound with game port
Logitech 5.1 Surround sound system
2.66 Ghz Pentium 4 Processor with 256 MB l2 cache
What'cha guys think?
¯\_(ツ)_/¯ It works on my machine...

The fact that it's a Dell scares me, but appart from that i would say it's pretty damn good =)

I don't like AMD I only have it because it was free dammed things run hot and don't run at actual clock speeds like Intel and to get dual core like Intel you have to pay out the assss for AMD!!!! plus AMD make dammed sure your using a good silver heat paste or she will overheat and die I have seen Amds no joke start on fire as in flames it was awesome not for the owner but to see and watch a PC catch fire that fast was amazing!!!!

Intel quieter fans less heat all kinds of nice advantages plus AMD you overclock shit huge honking heat sinks or water coolers nitrogen etc pain in the ass 8O

hm, I disagree a little, Opp....because I have an AMD system too and it's REALLY silent, it's the fans that count more than the heat the CPU produces imo. I have a whole pile of case- and CPU-fans here, most of them suck!
here are the ones I can recommend:
- Sharkoon Silent Eagle ones, very silent, they are cheap and look pretty good (black frame, white "golfball" fan).
- Papst ones in general, extreme silent but standard design, also not the best if you need a really powerful ventilation
- Verax ones, very silent, very nice design but expensive

here's my system, not high-end but silent, still pretty fast and very stable:
- AMD XP 2500+ CPU
- nvidia 7900GS 512MB g-card
- 2 GB RAM
- 1x80 GB + 1x40GB HDDs
- 19 inch Philips 190c TFT screen
- Logitech Revolution mouse (not yet, but already ordered)
- Tagan 430W PSU
- AsRock K7SX9 mobo

Ok I'm going to post my current system and the system I should be getting come January.

Current System:
PSU- FPS Group 500W ATX Powersupply
CPU- AMD Opteron 146 2.0 Ghz (Single Core)
MoBo- EPoX EP-9NPA+Ultra Socket 939
RAM- OCZ 2GB (2 x 1 GB)
Sound- Audigy 2ZS 7.1 Capable
Heatsink- Arctic Cooling Freezer 64 (92 mm fan)
Video- eVGA 7800GT 256MB Video RAM
HDD- Western Digital 7200.11 250GB SATA 3.0Gb/s
Case Fans- (2)Silen-X 120mm Case fans w/ noise reduction bracket
Sound- Audigy 2 ZS

I believe that's everything. Minus the DVD combo burner but that's not really important. Now for my next PC I have planned.

Gaming Rig v2.0:
Case- Antec Performance P180
MoBo- ABIT IP35 Pro LGA775 Intel P35
Video- MSI NX8800Ultra 768MB Video RAM
PSU- FPS Group 760W (SLI Ready)
CPU- Intel Core 2 Duo E6600 2.4 Ghz LGA775
RAM- G.Skill 4GB (2 x 2GB) DDR2 800
HDD1- WD 150GB 10,000RPM Serial ATA 150
HDD2- Seagate 7200RPM 500GB SATA 3.0Gb/s
Heatsink&Fan- Arctic Cooling 7 Pro (92 mm fan)
SoundCard- SoundBlaster X-FI Gamers Edition

If I am to recommend any case fans it would be the SilenX case fans. Especially the 120mm model. The loudest part in my computer is the GPU fan when the video card is under stress. Other than that my computer makes only a quiet hum.[/b]
