the end price is about 2400, which is ok with all the high quality parts like the Logitech MX Revolution mouse, the Noctua CPU cooler, a 19 inch monitor, and the sweet case:

Re: The Rate my system thread.
I liked maboroshis' system most.
Well, here's my pathetic system config:
Intel Core2Duo E4500 2.2GHz
nVIDIA 512 MB 8400GS
2 GB DDR 333GHz
160 GB Hitachi HDD
1 TB WD portable
Logitech wireless mouse
4.1 channel Creative speakers
21" AOC 913Fw LCD TFT screen
With this config, I feel like I have fallen 4-5 years back.

Re: The Rate my system thread.
well z3r0aCc3Ss, you're at a point where many of us have been a little ago: upgrading the system is kinda pointless and so you have to build a new one from scratch. my old system was pretty similar to yours (just an AMD Athlon XP CPU and a 7900GS g-card) and I still use it as Linux system/home server.
if you need some advice for a new system simply let me know, even with 500-600 bucks you can build a decent one already...

Re: The Rate my system thread.
here's mine (feels a bit pathetic)
Pentium 4 630 3.2GHz
1GB DDR2 RAM
250GB Seagate something for system drive
2TB Western Digital Caviar Green HD
Nvidia GTX 465 (I wanted it for the CUDA...)
21" Sony CRT (curb-picked, supports 2048x1536 quite clearly!)
... no optical drive.

Here's mine although old it works pretty good.
It is a hell of a lot faster than my dell solo 9150 a screaming 333mhz processor with 586 meg of ram.
Sorry for the length I cut it down a bit. The lshw command dumps a lot of information that was not really needed.
