Yeah..
I was just wondering if downloading any Trojan from the downloads section here is harmful.
I doubt it. Just want to make sure.

Don't flame me. I know, I just got into that kind of stuff. I'm really fucking newbish.

edit - Oh cool. I posted this in the wrong section... somebody move it please.

I'm sorry for this.

How was that supposed to be flaming? :)
They're all the same, usually. No flaming, no porn, no spamming and all that crap, so I don't bother reading them at all.

But, if you say so, I'm going to read them. Hopefully they'll help.

Thanks.

the trojans in the download section are functional, however most major anti-virus and spyware scanners pick them up...if you download one of these and use it on your computer you run the risk of compromising your own security, just keep that in mind, if you want to mess/test with one of them, consider setting up a closed environment to do it, (check out VMware) this keeps the trojan contained within a system alternate of your main one, so nothing can essentially get harmed...

Good advice CB, to further that suggestion. I have a bunch of old computers kicking around, you could go one step further and set up a test lab to practice your hacking on. If you don't have any old computers kicking around, you mentioned you are at school - I am not sure if you mean high school or University, but if its the later, you could try some dumpster diving for old hardware and put something together...and because you are located in Montreal, there are tons of high tech companies kicking around and who knows maybe you will pick up a hard disk with some neat stuff on it. According to CNN 85% of the top 500 companies in America don't prioritize Information Security, thus it's only imminent that the trend would carry over into Canada.

Testing hacks in school? Nah, bad idea. I got suspended for that.

In school? If you read the post, I suggest that you set up your own test network - which has nothing to do with testing hacks on your schools network , infact I was implying you do the exact opposite and stay away from the schools network.
