Post by Wo0oT »

How can I run command.exe ?
I can't open C:\WINDOWS\system32\cmd.exe
Can't save .bat

Are there more options to do that?

Thanks :c

the it is possible that the administrators denied access to the CMD.
this happens often in schools where the admins arent total *nutjobs :).

Well.... Here it did say it CMD was blocked by the administrator....
What I did:

I got a cracked version of explorer, so I could go to the C: drive (if you can already acces the C: drive you wo'nt need it)
I went to C:\WINNT\system32\
and I opened "gpedit.msc"

(They do have a Dutch version of Windows 2000 here at school... So it's possible I translate some things wrong tongue.gif)

Dutch:
Gebruikersconfiguratie -> Beheersjablonen -> Systeem

Try to translate:
Userconfiguration -> Management"sjablonen?" -> System

When click at system, on the right it said here: "De opdrachtpromt uischakelen" in English there will be something like "Disable the Command Prompt"
Double click and select Disable.

Now you can acces CMD.exe

(at least.... This is the way it worked for me tongue.gif)
Just found this on a forum... tell me if it works.

You can always write a batch file that would open command prompt. Open notepad or word pad and type command.com then hit save as and save it as command.bat... Some other useful things if you want to add your self as admin go in the command prompt and Type: net localgroup "adminsgroupnamehere" "yournamehere" /ADD

I guess he meant can't save .bat... :wink: But yeah, that's a good way to run it :)

It is translated as Management Console And your way wont work unless you have admin or if your admin is stupid enough to let the users edit settings...

*Edited: No double post.

Cant save batch files is that what he meant? If so Im sorry I cant help I will do some more research and I will let you know If I find anything else

*Edited: No triple post. (Use the Edit button upper right the post.)

Ok If you know the location of the command prompt in the registry you can save this in notepad
REGEDIT4
[HKEY_CURRENT_USERSoftwareMicrosoftWindowsCurrentVersionPoliciesWinOldApp]
"Disabled"=dword:0
[HKEY_CURRENT_USERSoftwareMicrosoftWindowsCurrentVersionPoliciesSystem]
"DisableRegistryTools"=dword:0

Save it as something.reg then run it. Simple. Replace the stuff I put in with the command prompt file location... hope it works :D

Hmm.. i'm surprised nobody said this yet. Often, even if cmd.exe is diabled, command.com (in C:\windows\system32) isn't.

Open iexplore.exe and type C:\windows\system32\command.com
¯\_(ツ)_/¯ It works on my machine...

open notepad and type in command.com then save as name.bat

then type in net user to view the admin and change their pass.

works like a charm!

Edit: my bad. didnt read the whole thread. if you cant save batch files then just do what DNR and Gogeta said.
