Brand-spanking-new copy of Windows XP Home freezing up.

Post by Stavros »

Alrigt, bought it last night and I can't get on the son of a bitch without it freezing up. I'm practically restricted to surfing the web. And that is a 50/50 chance. I'm about ready to chunk the computer out of the window.

well, now it really have to be a hardware problem and you have to go step by step, unplug everything you don´t need like CD/DVD and floppy, and only use 1 RAM bar, if it still fails use the next one. if you use 2 HDDs do it the same way. and don´t forget to try different cables. if all of this fails it have to be the PSU, CPU or the mobo, I hope you have spare parts to test... :?
