well, I use Debian as you know, but in the testing-branch I use it is also pretty normal that some things simply don't work anymore after an update (happened to Compiz for example a few weeks ago).
Ubuntu is not as "unstable" as Debian testing, but it is also not as stable as stable because they want to use newer program versions, and this means also a lack of time for tests. I recommend to simply wait some days and update every day, it is possible that it'll be fixed with a new patched package version (which usually takes some days until it is released)...
