Need a disk tool that works on Vista?

Post by floodhound2 »

Any one know of a disk tool that works while running on Vista? I need something like "partition magic" that can put my partitions back together, so i don't have to reformat my hard drive.

thanks in advance...

No, I don't think it has to run on Vista but that sure makes it easier.

I would try a live CD, but I am a bit less experienced running it. :-k Man I was so dumb using a small partition with Vista. Who would of thought that 60 gigs wouldn't be enough.

Well I am unsure your set up partition wise and this tool can not add to your drive vista is on. but does vista not have diskmgmt on it like in 2k and xp

That might be a solution ;)

Cheers

Yea my thoughts were the same, but the Vista disk had no tools on it except automatic fixing tools. The auto feature would not address my issue of expanding the partition. This is why i am searching for a partition tool like Partition magic.

Thanks so far fellas.

try the gparted live CD, no Linux stuff to mess around with, it boots directly the HDD partitioning tool...and it's as easy to handle as commercial tools like Partition Magic.....

just take a look:

personal opinion... kill vista???? lol i think gparted is your best bet tho. i know that for me i used gparted way back when i was first getting started with linux and even i could understand it. so it should be very easy to use!
