Use your favorite packet capture util - such as tcpdump and capture the packets.
Take the capture and parse that data looking for RST packets, if you notice an abundance of RST packets it`s likely your ISP meddling with your traffic or perhaps the port is closed on your router? Could check that too first, I suppose.
Yellow smiley means the ports arent configured correctly. did u make sure u opened the ports to you LAN IP? did you make entries for both tcp and udp?.
I had this problem when i used to have azureus and the way i got round it was to go into the router settings, forward the ports and set a static ip address.
I would also recommend installing a third party firewall. Comodo is pretty good (thanks DNR) or you could use zonealarm or google for a few. Its ok to run without AV if you know what you are looking for but it is definitely not recommended to run without a firewall.
I have to agree with itzm3, µTorrent is a LOT better...I used Azureus too for a while, but it often annoyed me, and after the big version update it became total crap. people here recommended µTorrent to me and I am really satisfied...
