Holograms...

Post by JuggaloMushroom »

I have no idea where else this would fall into, but this seem like the most likely place. How are holograms exactly made? I mean hologram like these

but most importantly like this one http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wd7NClJO ... re=related
I would appreciate the information.

seems to look like the spinning hardware beneath the hologram emits pixel based light against the cylinder walls which is then in turn reflected to the center of the cylinder producing a 3 dimensional image, the hardware rotates to keep reflections from crossing each other on the opposite side of the cylinder.

my best guess

ive seen holograms which are only 3d projections on glass or a transparent surface. such can be seen in a lot of asian cities, and i think Gorillaz have used such tech in their live concerts

Also the CNN 'hologram' is actually a blue-screen matchup. It is neat they got a 3-D image of a person, but its placed on the screen, not in front of the newscaster. The newscaster looks at a monitor to see what the 3-d image is doing.
Some are saying this is wrong to call the CNN trick a hologram.

I looked at the last 3-D and it was pretty cool too. Technically it would be 2-D as you had to stand at the front or back of it to see what it was...
