Putting all Download parts together [7Zip][solved]
Most of the softwares downloads that we download from here are in parts and they cannot be downloaded as a whole software.Allow me to ask, when you download in parts how do you put it together at the end to make one whole software?
My downloads uses are accepted by a RAR software but it will not allow me to use one part of a download unless it has all the other parts added to it.Therefore it becomes useless.A little help here please...
Thank you very much.

pretty simple, usually you just have to extract the 1st part, the rest is added automatically...all parts of course have to be in the same directory (so you need to download them all first).
if your file archiving software doesn't do this automatically for you get 7zip, best software of that kind imo...and it's for free. the only limitation is that you can not create .rar archives (but unpacking works):

if I can make a note here.
Even if there are parts, there should be a file that is just called .rar and it does not have a nr in front of it. this part u should unrar that the software (rarlabs.com) will combine it automaticly.
I am aware that if you unpack a numbered file it indeed does not work.
so heads up

plus i think drop.io only allows up to 100MB per an upload

I download a lot of split files, and for me it's really rare that one doesn't work....in those cases one part was corrupted during the download (connection problems) or (very rare) the file is corrupted itself already by the uploader. in case you get an error during extraction best check if the file sizes are correct.
once again: no need for "jsplit" or whatever uploaders sometimes recommend to use, get 7zip.
if you have files like xxx.part1.rar, xxx.part2.rar mark all parts, rightclick the 1st part and chose to unpack with 7zip.
in some cases you will get new split files name xxx.01, xxx.02, etc....amongst those parts you will find xxx.rar, simply unpack this file then....the rest (joining the files) is done by 7zip in both cases.
and 7zip is not just a good app for issues like that, it is in general the best file archiver, it supports many formats and is free...beats any of those commercial file archivers like winrar or winzip by far.

Exactly!.....Lyecdevf wrote:I was thinking what if you put all the downloads in one big rar file and than you could download every thing with just one click...maybe two. We could call it the big suck-o file!
Bad Brain, for clarification, just run this through with me
1)Download files in parts
2)Save downloaded parts in suitable directory.
3)Download 7zip(the one with .exe)
4)Using the 7zip software, search for the part 1 of all the downloaded parts
5)Right click on the part 1 and click unzip
6)This should join all the other parts
7)Save in directory
8)Done
Clarify.
Thank you.

1. download and install 7zip, it'll add an entry to the rightclick context menu
2. download all parts, put them into the same directory
3. rightclick the 1st part (I always mark all parts first, don't know if it's necessary), then "7zip->extract here"
4. if a pass is needed you will be prompted for it
that's it, the rest is done automatically by 7zip.
when installing 7zip make sure to make it the default app for all archive formats...and deinstall crap like winrar and winzip, they suck.
