Formatting a lot.

Post by f4Gg0t_43 »

I've been formatting a lot, trying out new operating systems and stuff, just wondering if it will somehow hurt my hard drive to format a lot.

it won't hurt, it just doesn't help to do it too often. If you are re-doing an OS though, thats a good time to format.

Whether you are formatting and reinstalling your OS or whether its the same OS being used over the same period of time neither should make any difference to the drive as either way they are still only writing 1's and 0's. These units are guaranteed to run over a certain amount of time hence the guarantee for each type of unit.

a good way to try out new operating systems is to make use of virtual machines using software like VirtualPC, VMware or something similar.
