Old templates as a guide?

Post by Necrix »

As I browse through the sites of nowaday I realsie that all the pages are usually "overdone" sometimes....I mean..didn't the old templates work well enough?
I'm talking about templates even though I know people commonly make their own.....

*Sigh* I suppose this should be in the "General Discussion"...but I'm mainly getting at the thought that many people "over do" the graphics on their sites. Content is always much better if you can read it :p

I'll add to this as I think :D

Well, there is a lot of money to make with selling templates, and therefore every day new and "better" ones appear. I don´t like these oh-so-well-designed ones too, users with slow connections will leave such sites in 5 seconds, and you know my motto: "content is more important than design", if a site has a lack of content not even the best design will cause a user to visit the site again.
So there is nothing wrong in using and editing "old" ones, you get experience and they´re easier to handle...
