[Question] Debian server

Post by ayu »

For some reason my brain melted and I can't figure out where to find the server version of Debian, or is it like I suspect, that there is none, and that it's just to install the newest Debian but to not choose any desktop environment when installing?

there is none... when installing Debian you are prompted for what services you want to install...like desktop environment (Gnome), web server, email server, database server, etc. make sure to check the services you want to install by pressing the spacebar, NOT by pressing <return> (<return> will finish the setup prompt and start the install).
also better not pick "database server", because it'll install PostgreSQL, installing MySQL manually later is done quickly.
