windows xp sound

so i went with a diff. direction instead of windows 7 for beauty i downgraded to xp for pure performance and went a step further and got a slimmed down verison of windows. everything is running fine im VERY happy with the OS i chose but the only problem is i dont have any sound? speakers are plugged in but pc does not recognize them...any ideas? thanks.

Installed the sound drivers? ^^

If you have On-Board sound you should find the drivers on the Motherboard drivers disc. And if you have a sound card it should have a drivers disc of its own.

soundcard properly installed? check in "device manager"...
