Microsoft also did this with windows Vista. I also remember seeing Upgrade on the original disk and thinking wtf. Never had any problems with it either and no complaints from the person whose laptop it was.

hmmm....I might work a little more with Win7 before I decide...^^
I have the RC installed, and it's free to use until march next year (I think), until now I only have used it for gaming because of DX10...

So is the upgrade for Vista only or does it work for XP? I'm running XP x64 Pro, so I'm not really sure if it's for me.

hm, I doubt it will work for XP too.... :-k but imo for a new OS the best is a full new reinstall anyway.

gogeta, look around for a download of Windows 7 RC, it can be legally used until March 2010 (activation and updates included)...ok it runs until June 2010, but starting on March it reboots every 2 hours.
the Windows 7 beta version starts rebooting on July 2009 and runs completely out on August 2009.

So you can only install it on the comp where you've installed 7 RC? :?

I installed the RC on my old comp (finally got a new gfx-card on warranty :P ) last night, and it's running above all my expectations, but if I can't install it more than once I'm not buying it...

i tried the 7100 build. i liked it but it had some conflicts with my webcam so that was a downer, other than that i loved it. i was using the x64 bit verison.
and i hear a tale there's a easy way to make it a "full verison" if you know what i mean ;)
