Microsoft also did this with windows Vista. I also remember seeing Upgrade on the original disk and thinking wtf. Never had any problems with it either and no complaints from the person whose laptop it was.

hm, I doubt it will work for XP too.... but imo for a new OS the best is a full new reinstall anyway.
gogeta, look around for a download of Windows 7 RC, it can be legally used until March 2010 (activation and updates included)...ok it runs until June 2010, but starting on March it reboots every 2 hours.
the Windows 7 beta version starts rebooting on July 2009 and runs completely out on August 2009.

i tried the 7100 build. i liked it but it had some conflicts with my webcam so that was a downer, other than that i loved it. i was using the x64 bit verison.
and i hear a tale there's a easy way to make it a "full verison" if you know what i mean

The easy way to get a free full version is to download if from Microsoft website. But yea I am running the 7100 version also.
