The front page is a landing site with details and visitors can pick where they want to go. The front page can have 'who is in the forums' (its inside the forums page, that should be moved to top of page there at least) it has the IRC window (shows whos there), the 'top ten post's, the 'top ten downloads', maybe the links can be expanded to show the latest links dropped off. You also have 'donations' and 'affiliates' (which I think are still important to those that do affiliate -even though afilliation is now overrated)

The front page is something I see everyday, and so will returning visitors, so it should just 'get right to the point'.

Now on the hacking title being used, I agree the page title should just say "Suck-o mind over matter coding development network"

Getting rid of the welcome block gets rid of the last mention of 'hacking' - until you register and enter the forums.

I don't know about anyone else, but I don't even use the front page. I've only been there like once or twice, I just bookmark the forums. But now that I look, I think the forums should be more noticeable then just a tiny link on the side. It deserves a blue button at the top, it seems like the main part of the site.

it would have to be original member created music - as BB had a bad experience with copyright music on the site a long time ago

Don't take any chances. There isn't that much point anyway, you can easily just listen to them from your computer or youtube or something.

I have a suggestion, remove post counts. It gets rid of stat whores, who only post to get +1 post count. The only negative thing I see in removing them is, it shows who has been here longer, so maybe replace it with a ranking system (rank 1-10 or something). It wouldn't be based on how much time you've been here, or how many posts you've made, it would be based on how much you've helped other people, contributed to the site, etc. So it would have to be manually updated (by admins and whatnot). If an admin thinks someone deserves it, they +rank them. I don't know there are probably flaws in what I'm saying, I just think post counts are kind of useless, other then determining who's new and who's not.

I have another idea. Why not create a Thread tab ? I mean say I created 6 threads(not posts threads) under my account I can see the hyperlink of the threads and dates. What that does is if you want to go back to a former thread of yours u can do so without scanning through all of your posts.

I think it might be useful. I mean I always go back to the infos i get from you guys.

What say you, suck-o ?

hmm....actually not a bad idea f4Gg0t_43, luckily we have not that much post whores, usually they disappear pretty fast again...but I will look for alternative ranking systems..

DrVirus, on the new boards there is a nice function where you can bookmark threads and also subscribe to them so you are notified of changes... :)

i agree with the threads button, or menu, whatever, that drVirus mentioned.

but i have another idea on the post counts, post whores, whatever...

instead of a rankings based upon post count, why not base ranking upon votes...

ex. i have a thread - you read it - you liked it - then vote for it with a thumbs up button. upon thumbsup_clicked increment ok vote count by 1. but if you did not like it - vote with a thumbs down button. everytime the poster reaches the tresh hold of 5 thumbs down votes his ok vote count is lessened by 1 . and say this troll who posted is only level 1 when he gets 10 ok votes then he is leveled up by 1 making him level 2 to go to level 3 he needs 5 more ok votes so on and so forth. but when he has been leveled up he cannot be leveled down. say, he is now a level 2 with 0 ok votes then he gets 5 thumbs down votes, he will not get leveled back to 1.
when he reaches the treshhold 10 thumbs down votes while having 0 ok votes he gets penalty and will not be able to post for a full week but he has the choice to post only 1 explanation post after getting penalty and let the admins decide if he gets parole on his penalty and lessen his due time punishment. something like that. got my point?

and only those who have been members for a certain time period have the right to vote, say, troll A has been a member of suck-o for a month then he has the right to vote, as for troll B who cannot because he has only been a member for 3weeks - 6days - 23hours - 59mins - 59secs. this is assuming those who have the right to vote are those who have been active members for a full 4weeks.

this is just a suggestion. you decide.

I think what suck-o did in the past was the core members voted on new members in the admin section. Not all interaction with new members happen in the public forum, admins share who and what is going on in PM, YIM, IRC with worth while members. We can even put you in a Offender list, otherwise known as the shit list.

I don't think voting power should be allowed for members below admin rank. Admins were chosen and trusted to craft the forum and its members by BB. Admins are really the only ones that share in BB's vision of suck-o. The day you get BB's vision, that might be the day you make admin here.

The idea of newbies voting on each other is just a distraction. We don't even want newbies to be concerned with favoritism by admins - we try to treat everyone the same across the board. This is not really a public forum created by you guys, this is a personal webportal that you guys have been lucky to be allowed to join.

Don't worry, if you fuck up - we'll let you know!

"Level 1" , "Level 2" , "10 thumbs down then back to level 0" , "penalty and time punishment"...What's that ? :-k

This is a "Discussion Board" to ask questions and get answers,to learn about hacking, coding , networking and others,to debate about general or computer-related subjects. It's obvious that you're very influenced by the "extremely-cool" forums with pink themes and members have super-duper cool nicknames who talk about how cool facebook is and how they can jack off when watching shark-porn.

And I don't see as this idea can contribute to the good of this community or for it's members.

Dude this is Suck-o : Ugly, Nerdy but yet cute ^^

...Welcome to suck-o

If you implement this, it should be like ... rank 8+ can vote or something (admins automatically have rank 10, mods have rank 9, and rank 8 would be reserved for those who REALLY deserve it, but don't have admin/mod).

hey pong - glad you are back in the forums. You are a good guy.
3xtortion said it best - this is suck-o, and not your regular forum.

So you guys want suck-o to expand members like this:
admins
moderators
members

and you guys want to set up a system so you can advance from 'members' to 'moderator'.

Would you guys trust the admins to appoint moderators? Then, the new system of moderators voting on new members for moderator level positions.

One caution - too many cooks stirring the pot can ruin a good soup.

Faggot said "shark porn"

*giggle*

post count +1... THE pOWeRRRRR!!!!

Soon I will have them eating out of my hand in NO TiME MUHahahahahaha!!"

Is post count 'really' that big a deal? I'm sure no one really cares except when you first get here, sort of as a way to determine who to gravitate towards in the beginning... it's an easy system...

Incidentally the gold/silver color star thing works well, very ambiguous easy to determine who is the boss (it helps that it says site owner I'm sure)

AHHRG... girlfriend argument, will finish thoughts later...
