The Anime topic

Post by Gogeta70 »

Hey everyone. Welcome to the official anime thread on suck-o. Post your opinions on anime's, your favorite anime's, the ones to stay away from, or just general discussion. However, please keep on topic. With that said, i'll get started.

Code geass was an amazing anime. The main character, Lelouch displays a high level of intellect throughout the series. The series is about a man named lelouch, the 17th heir to the throne of the britannian empire. He gave up his right to the throne when he was a child and he and his sister nunally were sent to japan, now known as area 11. Throughout the series, lelouch becomes a terrorist, forming the black knights who call themselves knights for justice. Using the mask of zero and the power of geass - the absolute power to command anyone to do anything - he works towards his goal: to destroy the world, and create it anew.

My rating: 9

Clannad

Season 1: http://www.animefreak.tv/watch/clannad-english-dubbed-online-free
Season 2: http://www.animefreak.tv/watch/clannad-after-story-english-dubbed-online-free
Genre: Comedy, Drama, Fantasy, Romance, School, Slice of Life, Supernatural

This story revolves around a character named Tomoya Okazaki. He is seen as a delinquent at his school for being constantly late and skipping class. The series begins with him walking up the hill to his school, and meeting a girl named nagisa. If i tell you much more, i'll be ruining the story lol.

I'll post a few more of my favorite anime's later.
¯\_(ツ)_/¯ It works on my machine...

i stick to the classics for the most part, some of my favs are..
vampire hunter D
tank police
ninja scroll
hellsing
Initial D
afro samuria
gunslinger girls
shin can
bible black (technically hentai but the plot/idea gives me a reason to watch for more than just anime boobies)
---
i loath modern american anime, i used to work at a independent movie/videogame store, kids age ranges from 6-14 would come in talking about "animes" like "avatar : the last wind breaker?" "teen titans" basically watered down kiddy cartoons that have a small hint of anime style in them

a parent came in raving mad one day because her 7 year old son brought home ninja scroll, we went by the rules when it comes to what the material is rated & saling material to ppl under that age restriction, after alot of bad noise including looking through sale logs & finding out who sold it, calling them and asking if the kid was with his friend (he wasnt) when he got it. i suggested to the pissed mom she should talk with the friends parents other than that nothing i could do because no one at the store did anything wrong. that was a fun day..1st of the month on top of that.

Yeah i'm not a big fan of the americanized anime either. I did watch some of Avatar: The last airbender and the plot was ok, but i think they tried to make it look like anime too much. Anyway, some other animes i recommend are:

Witch hunter robin
Vampire knight
yu yu hakusho (old style, but pretty good)
Rurouni kenshin & samurai x
Kyo kara maoh
Onegai teacher
Cowboy bebop
Samurai champloo
Great teacher onizuka (hilarious)
G gundam (old style, but still good)
.hack//sign (i love the music in this one too)
Tsubasa chronicles (ending is crap, but series isn't bad)
Fate/stay night
Kanon
Shuffle!
Gantz (not for squeamish people!)

That's all i can think of right now. I thought Gunslinger girls was pretty good too.

I'm gonna recommend www.anime-planet.com ^^

You can keep track of animes you've watched, mark animes you want to watch, rate, read recommendations etc. You can also see how many episodes you've watched in total, and how long time you've actually watched anime. Hawtt and I are members already, and I think cats registered too. My username is Lundis999, add me if you register ^^

Some of my favorites that haven't been mentionted yet:
Darker than Black
Love Hina
Full Metal Panic
Fullmetal Alchemist
Death Note
School Rumble
True Tears
Mahou Sensei Negima
Futakoi Alternative
Ghost in the Shell SAC (both series, I think the 2nd one was better though)

I've never really been into animes, but when I was a kid there was one I really liked (ok, it wasn't called "anime" at that time ^^).
when I look at it now I always have to giggle because I have to think about cats:

I've kind of wanted to do that, but i think managing it would be a lot of work for one person. But who knows, maybe it'll happen ^_^

Well, i just searched around for a bit and every lead i found turned up dead. I guess some guy had uploaded all the episodes in english dub, but they're no longer there. Maybe someone else will have better luck.

The creepy cuteness in episode 6, 4 minutes in.
It's dangerous to the very existence of heterosexual.
