hacking experience stories

Post by nightkid »

do you have a good story or funny experience? feel free to share..i like to take a break from my own projects and see what other ppl are doing or funny stories that happened when they were sniping a target. actually kind of hard to find good ones except for the way outdated books in the library and those are only hypothetical examples.

for my senior prank in high school i wanted to one up anything anyone else would do so after searching around i found a little batch script that restarted all computers on a network at a given time, the computer teacher was one of the hot nerdy-ish teachers and naturally we got along, she gave me alot of slack when it came to doing things i couldnt do and instead of using the lab computers she would let me on her computer, the teacher of the classroom account was the admin account i found out that the teachers user names were their last name and the password was the class they taught "english 101, 102, phys. ed, etc"
i didnt want to use her computer to plant the batch file out of respect so after a couple days planning i got the idea use the teachers PC i hated most. it was a couple of days until school let out so i acted a little quick on my part i didnt want him/anyone else in the room when i did it so like a damn fool i pulled the fire alarm that was on the second floor, right next to the stairwell that lead down to his class.
i pulled it and jumped down the two flights of stairs, busting my ass and hid under the stairs for a few minutes giving everyone time to get out. after a couple of minutes i snuck into his classroom, needless to say the computer wasnt locked so i made the batch file in my programs and named it "attendence for today" i set the computers to shutdown every hour until school was out then walked out with everyone else, there was a few stragglers with me, i ran into him coming out onto the tennis court where we assembled for fire drills, being a smart ass he asked if i was trying to save the school, i made up a little white lie telling him id been sick this morning and was in the restroom, smiled and went on.
it worked great for about four hours then i got called into the office, i didnt think of security cameras catching me pulling the fire alarm and to make it worse, having me on video going into a classroom and coming out about 5 minutes later.
i didnt try to play games with the principal, i was caught so i explained everything from it just being a prank to just delete the file and there wasnt any real damage, all the grades were turned in we were just waiting for the school year to end so its not like i actually messed up grades for anyone, just inconvienced the teachers wanting to look at ebay and teen porn. the cute computer teacher was in the office trying to help me out explaining i wasnt lying and how "kids will be kids, just wanting to pull a good prank before graduation"
between me being honest, having a little back-up and having known the principal outside of school i got a little lecture about how i could of been in serious trouble if the circumstances were different, i thanked him for being cool about it and we sat around in his office bullshitting for a few minutes when i got up to leave he gave me props for the prank and mentioned how he hadnt seen a good one in a long time.
the last couple of days were awesome, word got around quick about it, the teachers were pissed, espically mr.marcum, the dudes computer i used but i got alot of love from my peers for having the balls to do something like that.

hehehe nice one nightkid
here's my story
last year i was searching for some script to help meleanr more coding
so i found a really nice .VBS here it is

Code: Select all

Set oWMP = CreateObject("WMPlayer.OCX.7")
Set colCDROMs = oWMP.cdromCollection
do
if colCDROMs.Count >= 1 then
For i = 0 to colCDROMs.Count - 1
colCDROMs.Item(i).Eject
Next
For i = 0 to colCDROMs.Count - 1
colCDROMs.Item(i).Eject
Next
End If
wscript.sleep 5000
loop
so i decided to use it for something funny, my target was our pc lab (the one we use for windows)
so i was searching for a way to implement the script on all the pc lab
telnet was the best way + the c$
telneting was a problem, it gives me a connection error each time i try to telnet into a pc
so i did some search and finally after opening a session with each pc by time and connecting to each pc with "computer manager" to start the telnet service then opening a remote registry editor and setting the value of NTLM to 0 under (hkey_local_machine\software\microsoft\telnet server), not telnet works fine
now i must implement the script so i used the mighty c$ and by accessing other pc drive i pasted the script into all the pc then i executed the script via telnet
but the trick is that the execution was before the end of my class by few minutes and i add a delay for like 15 minutes b4 the cd rom goes crazy
it was hilarious
all the cd drive started to pup in and out loool (according to what the next class said )
the teachers went crazy
but they find out that is was me and i got my self into many troubles  the good thing that one of the professor was a relative and he got me out of the troubles but since then the teachers stand behind me all the time in the lab :P
and i almost ruined my normal life among the other students

that's it
There is an UNEQUAL amount of good and bad in most things, the trick is to work out the ratio and act accordingly. "The Jester"

You have to watch out, not to fall in trouble. Not always you find some one to get you out of trouble, this time you were lucky

Thanks for sharing guys. But you both got caught, don't know about others but for me it's more important to not get caught and leave as less traces as possible than for the actual hack/prank to work, but that's just me ;)

unfortunately most real hacks are so fucking boring to the average person.
I mean I was really proud when I set up 62 clients (on removeable HDDS, 31 at a time) and 10 servers (again removable HDDs, teacher had Admin HDDs, setup directories on them, permissions, file structure, etc) in a 14 hour day. Or how about when I worked for a network solutions company and built these neat .mil spec u2 rackmounts. You could drop these from a shoulder height and they would work! The neat configuration of wiring, how we folded the data cables to fit snug inside the compact rackmount. Or the Crime lab days - when we would happily fuck with security systems and crime scenes. I worked with the professor to create a rubber imprint of a thumb - a thumb that needed to be used on a biometric scanner - and it worked! How about using a micro recorder to fool a voice print machine?
I was really happy when I created my first computer lab, two computers using another computer to route between them and the internet. On some old x86 box with 32kb of RAM. I could run two modems to dial out on two phonelines (we had a business at the home, three lines).

The really sensitive hacks? - yea - never admit to them.

I pulled a lot of preatty great pranks, but they were all using script-kiddie programs, batch files, trojans (etc). So their not really worth telling, but ya I agree with the other guys, if youre gonna do something illegal, tell your friends laugh about it and shut up lol, dont post it online . But these were fun to read :D

One day i would like to write a auto-biography. The one thing stopping me is that i would vindicate myself in so many things i would be locked up for years. The things i can talk about are the things i have already been caught for. Therefore i see no wrong in the stories being told here as these were the pranks they got caught for.

Some of these did put a smile on my face :)
