hey am on windows XP SP2 and i just find out that am infected
i just turned on my pc noticed that norton icon has disappeard i click ctrl + alt + delete
and i got the mighty message " your task manager has been dis... "
so i think so are enough symptom to comfirm that my pc is infected
P.S my norton is pirated (out of date) yes i use such thing because am a working student and i barely have money to spend it on my uni so i don't think am able to pay for an AV license as well as XP license (i have linux but still need XP)
+ most of the security site are blocked...
any one have a solution
if you guys have some tools please i prefer to get a download link other then original one - via rapidshare or sendspace..." because i can't access most of the security sites

You can try to reboot in safe mode. Do a msconfig and turn off all programs that start up at a new boot.
Also you going to dive in and peek around in that register deleting the suspicious program/s.
Unfortunately it take experience to resolve this issue other than formatting the hard disk.

perhaps if knoppix is too big Slax would work (200MB) plus the clam AV module. Like knoppix make a live CD or USB key off the ISO and boot into the live environment to scan.
If you have the patience Floodhound has a good idea though, boot to safe mode and rin msconfig from the command promt to disable all startup services and see if you can access an AV site from there.
As for AV cost, AVG, Avast, Avira and Comodo all offer good free AV and in my opinion are on par or better then norton.
Trendmicro and panda security offer free online scans if they are not blocked by your malware.

Blocking security sites is possible without using a rootkit, but it is not very common. Chances are that you have a rootkit, in which case it would be much, much easier to format your computer and reinstall your operating system.
