Overlay drawing on video

Post by lilrofl »

Hey guys,
I was wondering how you overlay drawings on video, it's for a pet project so no real rush... I'd love an idea of what's required though and figured there might be a media guru in this conglomerate somewhere =)

This video has a perfect example of what I'm talking about.

I think that video is made of images. Draw on a few images and put them together in a video :)

hahahhaha lool
funny thing is that a month ago I asked phobyx a question related to this particular vedio... I wanted to make an animation out of the walking character... messed up a little bit with movie maker, and it worked (when I get back to my PC, I'll post the link)
@ lilrofl
im not sure i've never tried it before, me thinks this was done in flash, it needs flash to be done.
another way, I know you can add images to a movie via movie maker, adding consecutinve short frames makes an animation (like the drawing of the guitar for example) what I dont know how to do is making the animation with movie playing in the background (but its doable for sure)

@ Dltr
The animation most probably was done in a animation tool, and converted to flash.
Edit:
at the end of this vedio TOMs Band it says vector design, this is a feature in photoshop, so it could have been done and animated in photoshop, or a similair application like GIMP.

Hi,

The overlay part should be easy. Almost all video editors have a Chroma Key. So, of the drawing itself, you would need to make the background the same color, And then remove it with the video editor.

So kind of like this:

Notice when he removes the purple color.

The animated drawing themselves I have no idea how to do. In my class we did picture by picture, but that is very tedious.

Hope I've been some help.

you could do this with macromedia flash 8, pretty old but simple and gets the job done, can go frame by frame.
after effects can do this as well

Yeah, Adobe Premier, Final Cut and Sony Vegas all have this feature. *thumb*
