hm, best extract the .dmg image (should work with magic iso) and then create a new regular .iso image from it...

Try:

Code: Select all

hdiutil convert filename.dmg -format UDTO -o filename.iso
In a terminal window, where filename.dmg is the path to your DMG file and filename.iso is the path to where you want your ISO to be.

Get dmg2iso. It's command line, but it's simple.

Can I install Mac X OS on a normal assembled laptop

Post by crashacid »

I am using a Intel Pentium Dual Core Processor with a CPU speed of2.00 GHz, 2gb of Ram and a 250 GB of Hard drive space. Just tell me any possible way to make this happen. Because I have seen such things in my life on YouTube. Thanks!

You don't use it by double clicking. You have to copy the exe into the directory where your dmg image is. Then you go in command line to the directory where your dmg image is stored and run (without quotes) "dmg2iso [image.dmg] [image.iso]" Where the text in the square brackets are the names and extension of the .dmg and .iso image. It will translate the .dmg into a .iso.

Why would you post this in the mac forum if it's an issue you're having with a file in the windows os?

Anyway, i'm not sure about this but 7zip is able to open ISO files like regular archives, so it may be able to do so with dmg files as well.
¯\_(ツ)_/¯ It works on my machine...

You typed the command wrong.

You typed: dmg2iso <MacOSXUpd10.5.6.dmg> <MacOSXUpd10.5.6.iso>

You should leave the < and > symbols out. Type the following:

dmg2iso MacOSXUpd10.5.6.dmg MacOSXUpd10.5.6.iso

Then it should work.
