Md5 or something else...

Post by hpprinter100 »

Does anyone have any ideas on what type of hash this could be? i am guessing MD5..but the bit after it makes me unsure. First bit it 32char next part is 2 char.

Looks like a regular MD5 hash, although I don't know what the end part is (I cut that off)

I had the CUDA implemented MD5 bruteforcer on all night trying to crack it ^^

CPU: 209 MHash/sec
GPU 220 MHash/sec

Total Average: 429 MHash/sec

I was up at a length of 7 or something when I gave up this morning since I needed that machine. The computer used had a GeForce 9600GT Graphics card and a Intel i5 Quad Core processor.

Most likely a salted password =)

hm, yeah, I also think it's a salted MD5 (at least the first part is MD5)...just the syntax is a little strange, because salted MD5 usually look like $5$xxxxxxxxxxx
but many platforms use their own homegrown hash syntax...any idea where the hash is from (like phpbb, wordpress, etc.)?

yeah, but SQLi is nothing but MySQL with some extensions, it says nothing about the source of the hash...the source would be a phpbb3 site for example.

k, seems really to be a homegrown hash syntax, the site is not using a pre-made platform (at least I have found no clues in the source)...
