i think my laptop crashed!!

i was at work and when i came home, my computer screen says this..

missing operationg system.

imma newbie at computers and slowly learning from scratch. does that mean ihave to get another copy of windows xp. I tried putting in my recovery disc but its not even getting past the Missing operating system screen. even when i tried to reboot.

1) post /repost /copy your post to the Hardware section

2) I think your Hard Disk drive ( or the very hard disk) is just screwed up...

Did you left the power chord on your laptop while absent ?

Did you molest your laptop by having it swallow strange amounts of voltage/tension differncies ; like unappropriate battery switching or unplugging power chords brutaly or both ?

PS: always, always make backups and recovery/troubleshoot disks/floppy's ..

i posted up in hardware.

im going to lie, i was messing around with it and plugged and unplugged it a couple of times. DAYUM!!! now i need to get another copy of windows huh?
