Help with a network hard drive

Post by f4Gg0t_43 »

Hi I just got a 1tb iomega home media network hard drive for my birthday, and you are supposed to plug it into your router, and it doesn't even give the option for just normal usb drive. I tried plugging the Ethernet cable into my PC but the software doesn't come up with anything. I'd rather not use it on my router because I'm not the only person who uses it. What should I do?

Well, it's a network hard drive, so it's intended for networks.

You said you tried using an ethernet cable to plug it into your computer, right? Well, try using a crossover cable, that might work...
¯\_(ツ)_/¯ It works on my machine...

What do you mean? Is it possible to buy a new case for it that would convert it to usb instead of Ethernet?

Whatever just took it back and got a USB one. Hope the people who gave it to me don't mind.
