Just got mine, I am current degrading it to RC29 because RC30 will not allow you to jailbreak it, or root it. So I am in the process of that right now.
When I am done, I plan on rooting it to enable multi-touch etc..and get it working on my local carrier network.
Is there anything else I should know about my phone? Any cool features?

I just got the HTC Hero mainly cause I want to program in Python on Android.
And dream isn't available here I think. Any way I love this phone can't wait to start writing scripts for it

I too also bought the HTC Hero.
I am quite pleased with it so far and also dont like some of the features but i am sure the good points out weigh the bad, i will report more on mine as i get used to it

Anyway I was doing some research. Installing Debian is quite doable then I read a few posts after this that man in the middle and possible wep cracking can be accomplished. Once you have Debian installed really sky is the limit
