7zip issue

Post by JohnB »

I can't get 7zip to open .RAR files on double click. It just says "Incorrect command line". I have associated .RARs with 7zip and I'm using the latest version (7-Zip 9.13 Beta). I read somewhere it could be because I'm using a 64bit version for a 32bit machine but I'm using the right one.

I'm on Windows XP.

Did you try other ways to open the file, open 7zip from the start menu and then drag and drop the RAR file into 7 zip for example, or selecting the process through the context menu for example.

Try this.
Go to C:/Program Files/7-Zip
Run 7zFM.
Go to Tools-->Options.
I think this will do, although 7zip open files widout doing this.
But still, try...

Yeah it works through the context menu + drag and drop. But I'm just wondering is this normal behaviour?

um, could it be that the wrong app is used to open files with .rar extension? make sure it's the "7zip file manager" and NOT the "7zip GUI"... :-k

Same thing happened to me some time ago, it's as b_b said. The association for archives is pointing at the GUI instead of the program.

And yes, it's a normal bug of the install on XP systems as far as I can know
