good things come to those who wait...V2 is coming!
alright. suck-o v2 is coming up in a few days....
in the last days I have prepared everything (like cleaning the v1 forum database from duplicates), did multiple test runs on my home server to make sure everything will went smoothly, and so on.
just 1 minor layout issue to fix (sidebar balance on the frontpage) and then we're ready to go!
of course I will announce it before the update is started, the expected downtime of the site during the update process is about 4-5 hours.
thanks to everyone for your patience, I know it took a little longer than planned.... but we simply didn't wanted to provide a site that's only halfway done, and of course we stumbled over lots of unexpected problems during the development too.

I'm looking forward to it. I hope the expected date is not expressed in Valve time.

An iframe for the forum, really?

The update is not quite finished yet, there are still some minor fixes left. Patience young padawanleetnigga wrote:An iframe for the forum, really?

There is an UNEQUAL amount of good and bad in most things, the trick is to work out the ratio and act accordingly. "The Jester"

I wouldn't call integrating the forum with the rest of the site something that is easily done, but alright.
General comment:
You might want to use PHP to display the suck-o time on the left at first, and let Javascript overwrite it when it's loaded. Now it shifts the menu at loading time because the Javascript creates new content with line breaks in it. Updating existing content would be more seamless, and friendlier to those without Javascript. The move from Flash is welcome at least, and the site looks good overall.

well, the iframe will stay (ph0 meant something different), it was the best way to integrate the boards seamlessly. maybe not the most up to date solution, but it works.
google might not like it, but we don't want the boards to be indexed anyway...and if you are a lynx user: bad luck.
edit: what browser, leet?
edit2: the thing is that it's not simply a clock which grabs the local time from the visitor's browser, it displays the server time so we have 1 time for all (good to make appointments).

I'd think integrating the forum with the website would be the editing of the top of the template and the bottom, but alright.
Where do I find the list of latest posts? I mean a list with more than 5 entries, and that excludes posts I've read already.

it wasn't part of the theme, added it now to the boards index page...

It's really nice. But feels a little strange. Guess I'm just used to the way it used to look. lol It is a really nice job though.

Yeah it's a bit unusual, even for us who were developing it
